Educational Background and Early Career
Vicki’s journey in Denton began as a student at Texas Woman’s University, where she studied criminology and psychology and earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. Shortly after graduating, she launched her professional career as a Law Enforcement Officer, a role she held for ten years. She then transitioned into Risk Management, Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health, including Emergency Management, serving in these capacities for thirteen years, all at her alma mater, Texas Woman’s University.

Vicki’s deep commitment to public service is clear in her extensive community involvement. She has served on several community boards and city committees and is an active member of various non-profit organizations. Notable Achievement
One notable accomplishment in Vicki’s career is the development of the first charter school in Denton (1998-1999), established through Life’s Beautiful Education Centers, based in Houston, Texas. The school, known as L.O.V.E. (Life’s Occupational/Vocational Education), was launched in the fall of 1998 and operated through the spring of 1999. This initiative provided a different learning environment. It emphasized occupational and vocational education alongside traditional academics. It served as an early catalyst for ongoing conversations about innovative education in the community.
